We all know that unemployment, particularly in the U.S., is up. We also know that Social Media is becoming an increasingly more important part of the hiring process, with employers using reputation searches through social sites as the basis for their hiring (and even firing) decisions. This is the important of the personal branding we discuss earlier in the day. During this session, we will discuss the most important aspect of how we represent ourselves for job searches, how employers are using the tools to review candidates and how you can make yourself stand out from the crowd and find the job of your dreams.

We will start with this presentation:

Using Social Media In Your Job Search

Wow!

We are really excited about this coming Thursday June 4, 2009 at the Roger Smith Hotel. Especially now that we have reached our capacity. Yesterday I had thought we could oversell a bit expecting some no-shows, but in talking with a few people, it doesn’t seem like that is going to be the case. So 120 good people will be coming together in less then 36 hours to share what they know, to help each other and to make a difference in their own way.

Tomorrow morning, we will be putting up a couple of posts on the Social Media 101 sessions we are offering, to get some more support and resources. Each session will have its own post on this Web site, so we can capture and share what we learn with others beyond the walls of the hotel.

We are really excited to have these three great sponsors be the first to step up and support our efforts to educate the small business community about how they can use Social Media for being more effective and efficient with their marketing, communications and collaboration. What I like to simply call MCC (as opposed to MARCOM, which references the old one way broadcast model).

It looks right now as if the cost per person is going to be about $42 – since we are only charging $25, we wouldn’t be able to make this happen without their support. Each of these companies want to support small businesses, start-ups and most importantly, the ideals behind out effort to empower more PEOPLE with an understanding of how they can get the most from emerging Social Media and general technology.

It is with much gratitude and respect that I introduce them to you…
